Day Three! Spring For Love Blog Hop and

Giveaway!

With a Rafflecopter giveaway and twenty-six participating authors!

One of my favorite “spring pleasures” is seeing my herbs sprout from the darcy flynn, joy dent, onion chives, lambs earground. Particularly after a harsh winter of ice and snow. I particularly love the garlic chives. I love making chive vinegar. The delicate purple flower heads tint the vinegar giving it a lovely pinkish tint. Great on salads!

I hope you’re discovering some new authors and some wonderful books to add to your TBR pile! I know I have!

Like today’s Soul Mate author, Annette Bower!

Annette writes about women’s roles in families, in communities and women’s emotions at the beginning and end of love in her home office in Regina, SK. Her short stories are published in magazines and anthologies in Canada, United States, and United Kingdom.

Her romance novels, Woman of Substance and Moving On are published by Soul Mate Publishing.

I love the cover of her contemporary romance, Moving On!

Annette Bower - Moving-On

Here’s the blurb!

Anna Jenkins, a mysterious woman arrives in the resort town of Regina Beach as the heir to a cottage, even though there isn’t an obvious family connection. As a soldier, the injuries he sustained in an IED explosion were greater than most people realize.

During his rehabilitation, Nick and Anna become friends. Nick begins to dream of a life on the land with a family of his own. When Anna discovers that Nick plans to return to active duty, she puts the brakes on loving a man who might die because of his career. Nick must convince Anna they have a future to live for.

And what does Annette love about spring?

She can kick off her winter boots and walk the four miles from her home around Wascana Lake and back, every day.

Welcome to Day 2 of Spring for Love Blog Hop & Giveaway!

With a Rafflecopter giveaway and twenty-six participating authors!

I have another wonderful Soul Mate Author to introduce you to, but first I’d like to share another memory from my days growing up in New Orleans, where the springs were long and the summers were hot!

As a child, I remember my mother picking an azalea flower and teaching me to sip the enddarcy flynn, joy dent of it for the sweet nectar coveted by the bees and butterflies. I can still remember that moment, standing in the front yard of our little “postage stamp sized lot” in New Orleans.  For the rest of my childhood ’til this day, I pick the first, full azalea bloom to sample its sweetness. The gorgeous azaleas to the right are on my Tennessee Farm!

Now, please welcome my friend and Soul Mate Sister, Sarah Hoss!

Sarah grew up believing she could try anything and if she set her mind to it, she would succeed. Sixteen years of dance lessons, Cheerleading, and school plays proved to her that her parent’s words rang true. Writing was no exception. Reading the Outlander series made her fall in love with time travels and the historical places books could take her. Always a child with a vivid imagination, she realized as an adult, she could put her imagination to good use and began writing. Marrying her very own hero, they live in Indiana in the town where she grew up. They have three beautiful children and one hyper dog. When Sarah isn’t writing, she enjoys gardening, camping, and watching her kids’ play sports.

Here’s what Sarah loves about Spring!

“I love to watch Spring come about with the flowers and trees blooming, the birds singing. Nature is reborn and it’s a beautiful thing to watch.”

                                                                  Sins of the Heart!

Sarah Hoss - Sins of the Heart

Abigail Crenshaw is an antiques dealer searching for the perfect item. When she stumbles across a warriors shield at a flea market, she knows she can’t leave without it.

Grant MacFie is the Scottish Laird of Clan MacFie. When he discovers his great grandfather’s shield has been stolen, he will stop at nothing to get it back and punish the one who stole it.

Spring! I absolutely love it! I think of my mother, who taught me how to garden anddarcy flynn, joy dent, strawberry pots how to prepare the soil. Peat moss and pretty garden gloves shared equal space on her garden bench. I owe my passion for gardening to both my parents. My father taught me how to grow vegetables, but the flowers, the annuals and perennials, are gifts from my mother. I spent years watching her tend her roses and her flower beds on what she called, “her little piece of America.” Gardening was more than a hobby, it was a way of life.

But, enough about me…

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to fellow Soul Mate Author, Amanda L. V. Shalaby! Her passion for all things Jane Austen was inspired by her mother and grandmother.  She now writes her own historical romantic mysteries. Amanda’s previously published works, Rhianna and Audra, both were nominated for the prestigious InD’Tale Magazine RONE Award.  Her latest novel, Bleddyn Hall, was released on February 11, 2015.

Darcy: Amanda, what’s one thing you like about Spring?

Amanda: One thing I love about Spring is Cadbury Egg chocolate candies! They only come out this time of year!

Darcy: Ooo, yum! I agree!

Amanda Shalaby - BleddynHall_600Here is Amanda’s wonderful book blurb and cover for Bleddyn Hall! *sigh*

darcy flynn romances, sweet romances, joy dent,

Running away is nothing new for Annie Dell, aka high-fashion model Anna Delany. With the paparazzi hot on her trail, an out of town wedding couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. What better place to hide out than the quaint Florida beach town Liddy’s told her so much about. But a delayed flight, mix up with the car rental, then a speeding ticket from the local Sheriff of Nottingham, her getaway is looking anything but relaxing.

Franklin County Sheriff, Levi Hawke, is tired of the spoiled, out-of-control students on fall break, who think they can speed through his county without consequence. After giving a ticket to a beautiful young woman he assumes is just another daddy’s girl looking for some fun in the sun, he discovers she’s his weekend date at his best friend’s wedding.

Through gritted teeth, masked by a half-hearted truce, they survive the weekend, only to find themselves stranded alone in the middle of a hurricane. You can discover a lot about a person while spending thirty-six hours without the comforts of electricity and modern conveniences. When circumstances further extend her stay in town, Levi pries deeper to find out what Annie’s running from. He knows when someone is haunted by their past. As the saying goes … it takes one to know one.

Blurb:

Can she let go of the past, before it destroys her future?

All Toby Lawson wanted was to go to college to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher and to be free of her alcoholic mother and the painful memories of finding her and the guy Toby loved kissing. But when her mother nearly burns the house down, Toby must put her dreams on hold and return home to care for her. The only time she isn’t lonely and miserable is when she’s listening to her heartthrob, Elvis Presley. His music takes her away, helps her escape from everything wrong in her life.

Noah Rivers has always loved Toby, but no matter what he says, and even though she knows her mother initiated the kiss, and that he didn’t kiss her back, she can‘t seem to get past what happened. He soon realizes that the true problem lies in Toby’s belief that she’s not good enough for him and in her fear that she will be just like her mother.

What will it take to prove to her that she deserves to be happy, and that he would give anything to be the man to make her dreams come true?

Excerpt:

Chapter One

Mapleton, Tennessee, November, 1957

Toby Lawson closed her eyes and shut out all sounds of the diner, except for Elvis Presley’s voice. He was crooning about how she was the only one for him…no matter where he went or what he did… he’d spend his whole life loving her…

Rough hands landed on her waist and shattered the fantasy. She caught a whiff of hair tonic and too much cologne, and she snapped her eyes open. Wes Markham’s hateful face replaced the image of Elvis’ beautiful, crooked smile and smoldering blue eyes.

“Let me go.” She gritted her teeth, keeping her voice low. If her boss, Mr. Winstead, knew there was trouble on account of her, he’d explode. He’d barely let her have the job in the first place. Everyone in Mapleton knew the Lawson women were trouble.

Toby gripped his right wrist with one hand, tightening her hold on the utensils she held in the other. “I said let me go. Now!”

She shoved against him, but he didn’t budge.

He pulled her tighter. “Your momma’s a whole lot friendlier than you are. They say the apple don’t fall far from the tree, so how’s about you cut the pretense and we go someplace quiet? Winstead won’t miss you for a few minutes.”

Her cheeks heated. She didn’t dare look around. No doubt the customers were watching, listening. Elvis had stopped singing and everyone in the place could hear what he’d said about her mother. It wasn’t like they didn’t all know, though. Constance Lawson hadn’t exactly kept her escapades a secret.

Toby clenched her teeth and brandished the utensils. She spoke loud enough for everyone to hear. “Release me this instant, or I swear, you’ll be pulling this steak knife out of your eyeball.”

He held her gaze for a split second, then gave a laugh that was somewhere between nervous and furious. “Sure, sure. Okay.” He released her and stepped back. “I was just foolin’ around anyway. I got better things to do with my time than waste it on a used up chick like you.”

Muffled laughter rose around her. Oh God, she could crawl into a hole.

“How about you apologize to the lady, then beat it?”

Toby whirled at the male voice. Noah Rivers stood behind her, looking handsome and sharp in his police uniform—even with his dark hair in the military buzz cut. Her knees weakened, and tingles swept over her skin. She swallowed against the sudden dryness in her throat. She’d heard he was back, but hadn’t seen him until now. And what a time to have a reunion.

I’m thrilled to introduce you to Jessica Jefferson and her wonderful Regency romance, Taming Miss Tisdale! You’re in for a treat because I’ve read this book and absolutely loved it!

Taming Miss Tisdale by Jessica Jefferson

perf5.000x8.000.indd

Miss Tamsin Tisdale believes herself to be completely unsuitable for London life. After a myriad of social mishaps, and the potential ruination of her family name, she’s shipped away to her cousin’s northern estate. Only after she accepts the type of existence Society dictates she must follow will she be welcomed home.

Marcus Winston, the Duke of Grayson, has a lackluster reputation. The last in a dying line, he’s endured a protected life—rank with privilege, but encumbered by isolation. After a brief encounter with rebellion, he learns the devastating consequences of his carelessness and willingly accepts living life from inside his gilded cage.

However, a chance meeting with the brazen Miss Tisdale gives Marc the opportunity to reinvent himself into the man he’s always dreamed of being. But when his deception comes to light, and ghosts from both their pasts threaten to unravel the intimacy they’ve come to cherish, will either of them set their fears aside long enough to embrace love? Or will Miss Tisdale’s stubbornness divide them?

About the Author

Jessica Jefferson makes her home in northern Indiana, or as she likes to think of it – almost Chicago. Jessica originally attended college in hopes of achieving an English degree and writing the next great American novel. Ten years later she was working as a registered nurse and reading historical romance when she decided to give writing another go-round.

Jessica writes likes she speaks – which has a tendency to be fast paced and humorous. She is heavily inspired by sweeping, historical romance novels, but aims to take those key emotional elements and inject a fresh blend of quick dialogue and comedy.

The 10th Day of Christmas – Memories & Traditions and Linda O’Connor!

On the Tenth Day of Christmas  I’d like to share one of my favorite Christmas darcyflynnromacnes.commemories. Growing up, Christmas for me and my family was always on Christmas Eve. My father would take my older brothers and I out to see the lights. The night time, the old fashion, multi-colored lights and the anticipation of what was to come were simply magical. An hour later we’d arrive home to find that Santa had come and gone! And there under the tree were all of our toys.

For years, I wondered how in the world Santa could know we’d be out. LOL!  Then, on Christmas morning we’d leave around 4 am to drive from New Orleans to Albany, Georgia. I’d wake up a few hours before we arrived at my grandparent’s house. I adored my grandmother and with my cousins a short block away, I couldn’t think of any other place else I’d rather be on Christmas Day! I’ll always treasure those magic years!

Speaking of magic, meet romance author Linda O’Connor. I adore romantic comedies and Perfectly Honest sounds delightful!

Perfectly Honest by Linda O’Connor

Linda O'Connor Perfectly Honest Book Cover

You never know where your words will take you.

When Mikaela Finn agreed to be Sam’s ‘fiancée’ for a weekend, she probably should have told him that she’s a doctor.

Sam O’Brien, aka ‘Dr. Eye Candy’, is trying to shed his playboy reputation and convince a small town hospital that he’s ready to settle down. But when his ‘fiancée’ helps deliver a baby in the middle of the meet and greet, it’s a bit of a shock. If he’d known the whole truth, he might have done things a little differently because somehow his ‘fiancée’ ends up stealing his job and his heart. Not exactly the change he wanted.

Lies and deceit – it’s a match made in heaven!

Perfectly Honest will be available at Amazon on January 14, 2015.

About the Author

I’ve been writing for three years, and I’m thrilled that Soul Mate Publishing will be publishing my latest novel, Perfectly Honest.I love reading romantic comedies so naturally that’s what I write. I never aspired to be a writer, but now I’m addicted. I love it. I balance writing with my work as a physician at an Urgent Care Clinic and being a mom to three sons (luckily grown and capable of throwing together a decent meal, in a pinch). Plus I like to keep active and cycle, cross-country ski, skate, walk with my husband, or dance every day.The idea to write came after working with young adults. There were some basics I thought they should know – mental health symptoms, birth control myths, how to take ownership of their health. I thought hey, if David Chilton of The Wealthy Barber fame can dole out financial advice in a barbershop, maybe I could dole out medical advice in a Romance novel. That’s how my first novel, She’s Not a Fan, was born.

For many years, I taught clinical skills to medical students and spent a lot of time writing detailed roles for actor-patients. It was great practice for developing characters in my stories. Joining the Romance Writers of America, taking online workshops, (and reading) all helped improve my writing. Medical school was challenging, but it was nothing compared to figuring out where commas go, POV, or sorting out verb tense (simple past, past perfect, past perfect progressive – did they know there were 25 other letters they could have used to name those things?)

Obviously I’m still learning, but I love the process.

I don’t write about people I know, but I definitely take inspiration from snippets of conversations or from the emotion I feel when I talk to people. My designated writing space is any place with a view of Lake Ontario, preferably outside (for three of the four seasons).
